with a little help from my friends

Marianne Binnetti is a terrific gardener and garden writer from the Seattle area.  I have put a link here for her tips on dealing with the dreaded “unwanteds” of the garden.  Nasty little things like slugs and earwigs.

Getting my bags packed and leaving the hair gel behind as I head off to Philadelphia for the annual Garden Writer’s Symposium.  This year, we are being hosted by Longwood Gardens to help them celebrate their 100th anniversary.  And that is  just one of several nights of garden events.  Chanitcleer is having us over for another evening as is Conard Pyle, one of the nation’s leading growers and plant distributers.  At last count I tallied we will be visiting about 20 different gardens in the Brandywine Valley, Philadelphia, and Wilmington DE area.

Plus, I have tagged on a little side trip to DC and Maryland for the US Botanic Garden, the gardens of the Smithsonian (one of my faves is the grounds of the Museum of the American Indian), the Paca Garden in Annapolis and Homestead Garden Center in Davidsonville MD. I’ve got lot’s of memory cards for the digi-cam and plenty of new notebooks.  And a big hat.
