What’s bloomin on Sunday and a poem for you

List of what’s blooming today: the electric yellow black-eyed susans are all tarted up, the agastache Ava is about 5 and a half feet tall, the buddleia alternifolia is cranking, the big red hardy hibiscus is looking all tropicallismo, the rosa chinensis mutabilis is looking a little under the weather but covered with blossoms, the ice plant is going on and on, a handful of blossoms on the Mojave sage and the winecups and last but not least, the rudbeckia Herbstonne is up and going strong.

And now for the poem I have taken it from Poetry 180, and Anthology of Contemporary Poems edited by Billy Collins.

God Says Yes To Me
I asked God if it was okay to be melodramatic
and she said yes
I asked her if it was okay to be short
and she said it sure is
I asked her if I could wear nail polish
or not wear nail polish
and she said honey
she calls me that sometimes
she said you can do just exactly
what you want to
Thanks God I said
And is it even okay if I don’t paragraph
my letters
Sweetcakes God said
who knows where she picked that up
what I’m telling you is
Yes Yes Yes.
