03 Oct Red Butte is beautiful
Red Butte Botanical Gardens in Salt Lake City, UT…..especially lovely last Sunday. Their focus on native and adapted low water use plants makes for a great demonstration garden………you CAN try this at home. Lots of color, texture, movement.
The grasses are at their very finest this time of year. Low light, autumn gold light, crisp blue days…….
The photo on the left features panicum (switch grass, maybe Shenandoah or Warrior), Iceberg roses, and purple culinary sage in the foreground. And a miscanthus in the pot. The photo on the right has sedum ‘Autumn Joy’ in the foreground, a bed of rudbeckia ‘Goldstum’ which has been cleaned up for the season, a swath of deep rose colored guara ‘Siskiyou Pink,’ and bringing up the rear, calamagrostis brachytricha. Please click on the thumbnail photos for a better look.
My thanks to Kathy Purdy of Cold Climate Gardening for helping me get these pictures into my Word Press blog and for her infinite patience with my lack of computer expertise.
