How to make a drought tolerant garden sing

Gardening 365 – Day 169

I’ve been known to rant a bit about the abuse of drought tolerant gardens. And frankly, I am sick and freakin’ tired of people pronouncing xeric (zear-ick) as “zer-o”.

When they are done right, with a good eye toward color, there is nothing “zero” about them. Take a look:

Paprika yarrow, tickseed, and evening primrose

or how about this:

penstemon stictus (probably Rocky Mountain), California poppies and tickeseed.

And the show is just beginning.

Let’s use the term “water wise.” Better now?
