Gardening 365, Day 34

Late in getting this posted but I WAS definitely in the full on gardening mode and surrounded by all things green at the 21st annual Northwest Flower and Garden Show in Seattle.

Its always sensory overload and delight at the show: thousands of perfect tulips and daffs and daphne odorata. Bright colors, every shade and shape of green you might imagine: salve for the winter weary desert soul such as mine. A few requisite Seattle rain drops, and afternoon of sunshine, coffee on every corner, garden geeky good friends and plant admirers everywhere. What more could a Dirt Diva ask for? Oh that. Well, yes, there’s a Nordstrom a block away and Anthropologie, too. Yes, its a perfect getaway 3 day vacay.

There are three main themes this year: Vertical gardens are everywhere in the show. Chickens are too. As I’ve said before, laying hens are the new pug. These are fat and happy, scratching their way to bliss in every imaginable shape/style/color of henhouses. Of course: hooray for the vegetable garden! Vegetables, herbs, fruit trees, berries, you name it. Photos on the way.

Oh, and goats do roam. Mares eat oats and does eat oats and little lambs eat ivy. But the 2 pet goats leapt from their pen in the family show garden to get closer to the people. The chickens, they have not flown the coop. Yet.
