Feast Your Eyes

Sunday, June 25th, 10-5, Rain or shine come one and come all to the annual garden tour. Hosted by the Lunaria League (or my beloved Lunies as I call them) to benefit the Idaho Botanical Garden.  This year’s tour has 7 terrific gardens.  The Johans historic home on Harrison Boulevard is lovely, shady, traditional and tranquil.  The Sup-Cook garden is bright, cheerful, private and chock a block full of fun stuff to see.  The Yoshida garden has one of the prettiest water features I have ever seen, complete with the clacking and pouring bamboo “deer scare.” You will love the tea house.  Over on Gloucester Place, the wild women gardeners rule the ‘hood with their gardens.  Marlayna is famous for her tropical flare, Jan is a master with containers and has the coolest red patio furniture.  Jill has a gorgeous water feature running the length of her back yard and a double chaise that I positively covet.  At Davidson’s sanctuary is THE word.  They literally back up to the Barber Pool Wildlife Sanctuary complete with heron and eagle rookeries.  Pete and Arlene have a gorgeous collection of statuary situated throughout the garden and grounds.

Tickets are $15, available at all the local garden shops and nurseries and at the Botanical Garden. Your ticket will also be good for one year’s general admission to IBG.  (Does not include the special events).

I’ll be serving lemonade and cookies at the Gloucester gardens.  See you there.  And don’t forget the sunscreen, hat, cameras and notepads.
