Garden Spider

ewwwwwwweeeeew. I have never been fond of these, but I had the chance to take this pic w/my groovy new camera. So, I am sharing it with you, in all its technicolor glory.

Name: Argiope aurantica, commonly called the Golden Orb-weaver , Yellow Garden Orbweaver, or Writing Spider.

I especially love his zigzag silk signature.

These spiders always build huge, HUGE webs in my tomatoes, which is okay with me, as long as they don’t come inside! Great picture!

I have a photo of one of these on my post too. But yours’s is much better. These give me the creeps!! Their habitat must be very wide spread. My grandmother always called these
educated’ spiders. I guess because they could write a Z.

  3. It’s the Amy Winehouse spider – my fav! Great shot.

I miss seeing the Argiopes in my garden. I don’t know where they went but it’s been a couple of years since I’ve had any. Thanks for sharing yours!
