Gardens of the Wild Wild West

Gardening is civil and social, but it wants the vigor and freedom of the forest and the outlaw. ~H.D. Thoreau

Let’s build a new garden!

December16

Never ever mind the temperature is about the coldest it’s been in 4 or 5 years. Nah, what the heck. See these little beauties:

That is fake snow, I kid you not!

Good looking. They are called Natural Display Lanterns and are at Pottery Barn and on sale now. That’s a fake little raccoon hiding beside the fake tree. If you ask me, it’s the only good kind of raccoon.

In the coming weeks (days if I can talk Santa into giving these to me early), I will create a couple of lovely little terrariums. Little indoor gardens to tide me over until the weather turns….again. For the better. Toward spring. Don’t get me wrong. I love all four seasons. But I also really like the act of gardening so this will give me the green fix I need for awhile. Stay tuned.

I have a couple of terrariums, too, that need to be planted up. It will be a nice ‘green fix’ after the holidays. I’m in! Indeed, let’s all have terrariums!

I look forward to seeing what you do with your new toys. Funny you should mention raccoons … I saw one scurrying across the street when I took a pal home after a party tonight. He had his head down and was intent on getting where he was going without being noticed. Or maybe he’d just scented an open garbage can …

A natural display lantern by any other name is a terrarium

Okay, I’ll ask for a terrarium for Christmas. Before the last snow melted, I saw huge raccoon tracks from my house going across the back yard. I’m afraid to find out how big the thing really is.

For those of us in the cold right now, terrariums sound very nice. I love the indoor growing things as well. I think that I will share it on my blog. Thank you They are very nice to look at and enjoy.
