Hi, Mary Ann, So I'm missing something here. First, are you saying the folks in Idaho have SW envy? It's ironic, since one of the issues in AZ is the number of folks who come in and want their East Coast plants, so native is not exactly in vogue with some. And are they tying them down to keep them from being stolen, or from falling over? Because in AZ you see a lot of plants being staked. It's very common to see old saguaro staked up with lots of wooden stakes, and it's kind of charming, as it says, "You're old, but we love you and we are going to stand by you as long as you are here."

Whew - what did these poor plants do to be place under arrest? LOL! I can't imagine anyone is trying to steal them, more like trying to cut them down since they have "failed to thrive"?

Thanks for the gardening suggestions. I will look for the Rozanne geranium (I am a blue, pink, and white gardening gal - so pedestrian, I know, but reminds me of the Cape).

I have never been to Idaho, but this is not the vegetation I would have expected to see. I am not sure what I would expect, except for potatoes.

Do they have to tie them down to prevent them from being stolen? They must be really in demand there.
